Dates Set for 2003 J/22 World Championship

It's time again to make those new year's resolutions. In addition to the usual goals to lose weight and stop smoking, why not also consider some sailing aspirations for 2003? Take yourself and your crew to the next level by competing at the next J/22 World Championship. Remember, the J/22 Class extends an open invitation for any and all teams to participate on the international stage.

Interview with 2002 J/22 World Champion Terry Flynn

Terry Flynn topped off his J/22 resume with an impressive win at the J/22 Worlds in Corpus Christi, TX. The J/22 Class is establishing itself as one of the most competitive and fastest growing classes in the world today. Here are some of Terry's thoughts on the J/22 and the regatta through an interview with Scott Nixon.

Fisher Wins East Coast Championship

Fifty-two boats sailed in the J/22 East Coast Championship in Annapolis, MD from September 13-15. Competitors were treated to some of the best conditions Annapolis has to offer, with a consistent breeze of 10 to18 mph and lumpy waves. The regatta served as great practice for several teams who will sail in similar conditions at the upcoming World Championship in Corpus Christi, TX.

The team of Greg Fisher, Jo Ann Jones, Keven Eiber and Jeff Eiber won the championship with scores of 3,1,1,2,3,1 for the overall win (they threw out an 11th place finish, where they were ocs). Ray Wulff of Annapolis was second (just two points back), and Nancy Haberland finished third.

Letter from the 2000-2001 Class President

Dear J/22 Sailors:

The USA J/22 Class had a very successful year starting with the Mid-Winters at Southern Yacht Club, North Americans at Rochester Yacht Club and the inaugural Rolex International Women’s Keelboat Championship sailed in J/22 for the first time. All these events were very well attended. I have no doubt that the successes were earned by the dedication and hard work of our fellow J/22 sailors. Congratulations!
